Artistic variety is the trump card in the Vienna Festival's impressive deck. As the premier cultural event in the Austrian capital, the festival spans six weeks and includes a varied program of the traditional and the cutting edge. The festival is known for presenting daring productions of treasured classics as well as premieres of avant-garde works staged by internationally leading directors.

Operas, operettas, musicals, theater, dance, and other performances are all on the program. The list of orchestras and conductors who have appeared at past festivals reads like a who's who of the international world of music: the Vienna Philharmonic, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Daniel Barenboim, and Seiji Ozawa are just a few.•
